Ceanna Wood

Ceanna Wood is of Métis-Cree and Italian descent working as an artist across Turtle Island (known as Canada). Wood holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Studies form the University of British Columbia and Master of Arts from the University of Victoria. She has co-created and co-facilitated workshops, alongside Jill Goranson, titled, Land Body and Spirit. These workshops intersect Indigenous ways of knowing and doing with Theatre creation which became the focus of her research. Ceanna Wood has worked as an Indigenous consultant for both Theatre and Film projects.

During the festival, Ceanna will co-lead a one-hour workshop called Accessing Language Through Blood Memory. Exploring voice, body, and imagination through sound, movement, and writing practices, Ceanna and Jill Goranson will lead participants through practices that explore the natural world, the sounds that exist within it, and the knowledge stored in our bodies, all to activate your blood memory. Participants are invited to write, move, and use their voice to whatever level feels comfortable for them.

Ceanna and Jill will also guide participants in creating their own Gratitude Bundles during the festival—a practice designed to help you connect with the natural world and reflect on what you are grateful for. Find Ceanna and Jill at the Wellness Table throughout the weekend to receive instructions and materials to make your bundle.
